Installing and setting up the iOS app

VoicePilot for iOS allows you to dictate on your iPhone the same way you would on your desktop, plus a custom keyboard that brings dictation into any app.

We'll take you through the whole setup, from the first launch to being ready to dictate.

📋 Prerequisites​

  • Your organization needs to be licensed for VoicePilot, unless you're starting a self-serve trial (see below).
  • You'll sign in with your Microsoft work account and grant Microphone access.

👋 Getting Started​

Opening VoicePilot for the first time walks you through a three-page introduction: Speak into any app, Commands instead of typing, and Safe in your own tenant. Tap Next to move through it, or Skip to jump ahead, and Let's go on the last page.

You'll land on Welcome to VoicePilot, which asks you to sign in with your work account. Tap Sign in with Microsoft and authenticate.

🔑 Signing In​

Depending on your organization's setup, you might land on one of the following after signing in:

  • Admin consent required - your organization hasn't approved VoicePilot yet, and a Microsoft 365 administrator has to consent. Tap Open consent link to hand that over, then Check again.
  • No license seat available - your access has been requested, and you'll be able to dictate once an administrator approves a license for your account.
  • No license found - your tenant has no active VoicePilot license, so contact your administrator or Solutions2Share.

If VoicePilot doesn't detect a company tenant at all, you'll be offered Start your 14-day trial instead, with the full feature set, no payment details required, and EU hosting. Tap Start trial to take it.

🎙️ Enabling Your Microphone​

Once you're signed in and licensed, VoicePilot asks for Microphone access. Tap Enable microphone and allow it, since dictation can't record anything without it.

If you've already declined it, the screen offers Open Settings so you can grant it without hunting for the app yourself.

⌨️ Adding the Keyboard (Optional)​

To dictate directly inside any app's text field, add the VoicePilot keyboard:

  1. Open Settings > General > Keyboard > Keyboards.
  2. Tap Add New Keyboard and choose VoicePilot.
  3. Turn on Allow Full Access, which the keyboard needs before it can transcribe anything.

Setup offers Open keyboard settings to take you straight there. You can skip this step and come back to it later through Set up keyboard on your Profile tab, whenever you're ready.
